Dear Colleagues and Friends, we would like to cordially invite you to the joint workshop of graduate students of Byzantine literature from the Universities in Brno, Olomouc and Vienna, organized in the frame of the Project Postdoc2MUNI.

The International Summer School (Moravian) Middle Ages in the Mirror of the 20th century takes place at Masaryk University at the Hans Belting Library. The summer school is held in cooperation with the University of Lausanne in Switzerland and the University of Zagreb in Croatia.

On April 9–13th, a lecture series/block course by Katharina Meinicke (Universität Wien) titled The Umayyad Visual Culture between Continuity and Change took place in the Hans Belting Library. The course presented an overview of the visual culture of the empire of the first islamic dynasty, the Umayyads (AD 661–750), which was, figuratively speaking, a superpower on the crossroads, in the sense of both geography and history.
