The publication of the book
Migrating Art Historians on the Sacred Ways
is already on our fingertips

December 18, 2018

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Supporters of the Center for Early Medieval Studies,

We are happy to announce you that the long-awaited moment of the publication of the book Migrating Art Historians on the Sacred Ways is already on our fingertips!

Even though the Migrating Art Historians project came to its physical close on 2 July 2017 when we reached Brno Station after four months of peregrinations, to publish a volume based on the project required more than twelve months of study, reflection, and collaboration.

So, on 18 December 2018, our journey will be officially completed and materialized into the forthcoming volume we prepared with the aspiration to present our intellectual, human, and art historical theoretical endeavor, transformed by the experience of our bodies.

Structured as our walk along pilgrimage routes, this book will present firstly the landscape, followed by liminal zones, before leading the reader inside medieval churches and ultimately towards the sacred. We hope that with the use of original scientific art historical research in combination with our personal engagement, what emerged and what we tried to put into words, is the more intimate experience with some of the most impressive artistic monuments of medieval France.
